Washington, April 20, President McKinley lias Bigned an ultimatum to Spaiu, and notified that America will begin war after six o'clock on Saturday morning unless Spaiu yields. It is expected that an American squadron ■will blockade Cuba and Puerto Rico, a large island on the ea9t coaßt of Cuba, and that an army will be landed in Cuba. The first call of the militia resulted in eighty thousand enlistments for three years. The movement of the troops coastwards is being hastened. The heads of the ' American National Volunteer Reserves have offered four hundred thousand men to be ready at a moment's notice. The recruiting officers have their tents pitched in the public parks of New York enrolling volunteers. Colonel Cody, otherwise known as " Buffalo Bill," is raising a regiment of cowboys, and arranging to join in the invasion of Cuba. Madrid, April 19. General Woodford, American Minister at Madrid, is arranging to take his departure. Four first-class cruisers will protect the torpedo flotilla now at Cape Verde, and another squadron, consisting of four battleships, two cruisers, and six torpedo boats are mobilising at Cadiz. New York, April 20. The Spanish agents in Mexico are organising expeditions to invade America. The Salvation Army women are offering their services as nurses. London, April 20. The London Stock Exchange is very depressed. Consols are quoted at 110, a fall of five shillings. Anxiety prevails in Great Britain that America and- Spain, not having subscribed to the Treaty of Paris, will be entitled to seize an enemy's property under a neutral flag, and it is feared that British shipping will be molested.
