As showing the Increasing Interest la the Asjoolbilol's wok, yesterday for the opening there */■>» an nnnanally large attendanoe, and orowds visited the theatre throughout) the evening, highly pleated with what they saw. Chief amongst the obvfianthemnm exhibits that will attraot attention are the 112 illstlnot vaiietios shown by Mr J. V. Brown in the open olass, in wbioh he oanied off most of the honors, and justly bo, for a finer assortment could not possibly have been secured. None the less Interesting are (he blooms tent \n by Mr Henry William), of Athtidge, and shown by his gardener, Mr J. Rlobardton. There are very many vaiieties, whloh gained for the exhibitor the champion prlz3 In this clam. In the amatenr olass Mr W. F. J. Anderaon secured tho balk of the prizes, and also took the champion prlza for the best white bloom. Tbis fine specimen was Been by many admirers yesterday. Tho table decorations aie vastly snparlor to any that have previously been shown, the competition in this class being very keen. They form a distinct feature of the show. Mrs W. C. Yates gained the first prize for a floral device in the form of a harp, the blooms being very artistically arranged, and certainly 5 credit to the exhibitor. Miss F. Carr (an easel) and Mrs Bannett (a ohair) were the next best, some pretty devices also being shown by Mlia tiaker, Miis Nairn, Mrs Cony, and Mrs Theakstone. The three exhibits of bridal bouquets were very tastefully arranged, the prlza falling to Mlsa A. Bishop, who also scoured the judge's favor In the hand bouquet chrysanthemum olats. There 1b on view a really fine dlaplay of finlt, Mr Robblni, gardener to Mr Busby, Pourerere, tßklng Mr R. D. D. M'Lean's prize for the best collection : Mr Nottingham, gardener to the Hon. J. D. Ormond, alto having a good assortment, wblch gained a eeoond prlza. There was a tempting oolleotlon of frnlt from Mrs Randall's Greenmeadows farm, shown by Mr Anderßon, the principal feature of whloh waa the dried prune exhibit. Mr FiokllDg, of Havelook, showed some excellent grapes, open-air grown, for exhibition only, whloh were fair samples of what the Hawke's Bay climate can produos. Grapea were also Bhown by Mr Andenon, gardener to Mr Wenley, and by Mr W. Forrest. The judging of Mr D Hay, of Auokland, has given general •satisfaction. The oommlttee and secretary have dliplayed tbe various i-xhlblts In a moat attractive form.
