THE DUDLEY DISASTER

The chief examiner of the coal fields, giving evidence on the Dudley disaster, attributed the explosion to the naked light carried by Hetherington coming in contact with the gag. It was a mistake to stop the fan when no miners were working in the mine. Had it been kept going constantly the chances were the explosion would have been reduced greatly.
