Another batob of 39 leading bookmakers weie fined £10 oaoh for taking wagers at Bandwick on the 2_ad Inst, The Webb-Leaver and Lwpent- Leaver notions, In which £2000 and £5000 damages respectively were claimed for slander, have been settled. Leaver, on fuller Inquiry, has agreed to accept Webb's and Miss Larpent's denial of the charges made by him against them. He has withdrawn tho oharges and has undertaken to pay tbelr oosts.
