Either of the two wickets prepared was, he says, good enongb to play an England v. Australia matoh on. The most promising of Anokland's team, in his opinion, was D> Hay. " The way he nsed hla feed getting ont to Trott and M'Klbbln's breaks was very good, bnt he has a fanlt In showing too great a desire to pull straight balls." He also says :— " Taken all round, the looal cricket was very good, and much better than we expected, Tbe true wickets they have to practice on materially aeslat) the batsmen to adopt correct styles of play. What they appear to be most'in need of is a good bowler. Of those who played, Neill (slow right arm) is abont the best, bat he lacks the accuracy required to make him effective,"
