PUPIL TEACHERS' EXAMINATION. .

The Inspector's report on the pupil teachetB 1 examination was read at the meetiDg of the Education Board yesterday. Mr Hill stated that 13 pupil teachers were up for examination for the Brut year, 13 for the second year, and ten for the tulid year. No fourth year teachetß were examined, as these are now required to eater for the certificate exami- \ nation In January to comply with the requirements for a pass. Misß Moore, a third year teacher at Gisborne was absont through sickness. Much of the work I sent in was of good quality, and the style I gonoraliy satisfactory. Some ot the first j year candidates showed weakness in a number ot Important subjects, whilst for j second year teachers tno work most I nDglocted was .English, which wao of poor quality. The examiner of sewing had pointed oat that the needlework was not satisfactory, and tho marks In that Important subjecu should have been higher. Some of tho teachers complained that they had received no instruction in sewing.
