The s.s. Te Kapu steamed for Wairoa at an ■early hour yesterday morning with a full cargo and a good nnmber of passengers. On arrival off Uie Heads at daylight a strong southerly wind was blowing with a heavy sea. As there was no chance of getting Inside or of safely landing tho passengers on the boaoh a return was made, port being gained at 130 p.m. ... The s.s. Tarawera commenoed work at the Jjreakwater at midnight on Sunday, and by daylight had landed all her cargo. She left ior the North at s.Soa.ra. . The Union Company's s;s. Flora arrived at the breakwater yesterday morning norn the North, discharged cargo, and loft for Wellington at 11.30 a.m. , ,..«. The as. Panla made another start for the coast on Sunday night with a full load of cargo which she has had on board for a considerable timo. Sho arrived off Porangahau •river yesterday morning, nnd found a heavy southerly sea broaking and no possible chance of enteriog tho rivor. Under theao circumstances Captain Dowcll was again forced to retreat, and arrived baok in port at The Union Company's s.s. Kawatiri dis- '' oharged her cargo yesterday, and was reidy • lor sea at evening. It was deemed ad vitubla to allow the weather to moderate beforo proceeding to soa, so her departure for Westport -was postponed till this morning.
