The trial of Minnie Dean, for the murder of Dorothy Edith Carter, commenced to-day in the Supreme Court, which was crowded, a large proportion of the spectators being women. Absolutely nothing new came out in the evl- . dence, which was substantially the same as already telegraphed or published. On reaching the point where accused left Gore to go to Milburn for the infant Eva Horosby, the Crown Prosecntor (Mr M'Donald) Baid he woaia aek the Court to admit evidence of the murder of Eva Hoinsby, in accordance with the ruling ot the Privy Council in the Makln cases VoZ-ehild murder In New Smth Walep. Mr Hanlan, for accnaed, said that ia bo eerlous a matter hn was bound to object, bnt as the hour 4 45 wss late he suggested that argume-.t should be taken next day. This was agreed to, and the Court rose. Twenty-one witnesses hsve~T)eeu examined, and it ia expected the tilai ,vill be finished on Thursday, but mucb will depend on tho lenpth of the argument tomorrow, of counsels' addresses, and his Honor's summing np.
