The barnuenUne Pendle Hill waa towed out to sea by the 8.8. Ahurirl on Friday, and at once set sail for Kaipara, where she loads timber for Sydney. • The S3. Southern Cross arrived at tho wharf, on Saturday morning from Wellington, and during tho day discharged cargo and loaded up again for the North. As the overcarried passengers by the Tarawera last week for Giaborne had to ro back by the Cross and the berthing accommodation would have been rather strained to meet tho demand, her departure was postponed till yesterday morning at 7 a m., when aho left the wharf, and with a bright sunny day the trip should bo a pleasant one. The B.a. Te Kapu returned from Wairoa on Saturday at noon. She leaves again for Wairoa to-night about midnight; The 8.8. Kahn arrived on Saturday morning from Wellington, and loft for Wellington via Coast stations same day at 5 p.m. The B.S. Fanny was to leave for Moeangiangl at an early hour this morning. The s.s. Kawatiri finished the discharge of her cargo on Saturday afternoon and at 4 p.m. left the wharf for Greymouth. The Union Company's s.b, Dlngadee, Captain M'Beth. arrived yesterday morning from Biuff, and reports having had fine weather throughout. She brings a cargo of over 500 tonß of southern produce, which will be landing to-day and to-morrow, and when all out she leaves for Westport direct. The New Zealand Shipping-Company's e.s. Tekoa finished loading on Satureay evening at 6 p.m., when she left for Wellington. The Tyser steamer Star of England is expooted to arrive about Thursday next to load wool and mutton.
The scow Pirate, Captain Cozens, arrived from Ngunguru at the anchorage on Saturday evening, and was berthed at tho breastwork yesterday. Shereportssailing from Ngunguru on the loth Inst. and nad W. to N.W. winds till the 22nd, when a strong E.S.S. gale was encountered with heavy sea and hard squalls. The weather clearing on the 21th, she was enabled to round Portland Island and arrived as above. This vessel is on her maiden trip, having been launched this month from Mr George Nicol's yards at Devonport. and is the largest -vessel of her class got built in New Zealand. She is three-masted, of 191 tona registered tonnage, and is specially designed to carry a large cargo on a light draught of water. She brings a cargo of 270 tons Ngunguru coal for Messrs J. and W. Prebble and her present draught is only 6ft 9ln.
