[BY TELEGRAPH.] AUCKLAND. Saturday. Thein'erprovinclal cricket match Auckland v. Wellington wan commenced to-day at 11 o'clock on the Domain cricket ground. There was a fairly good attendunce, especially in tbe afternoon. Tbe Hone. Messrs Ward end Cadman were on ■he ground. who made 66 by v splendid oiaplay o. cricket ; the Rev. J. Richards, who was in excellent form and shaped well for t score of 28 t and Neill, who also played a good game. Mills made the hit nf the day, sendiuc ihe ball over tbe boundary for 6. Some of Auckland's best players, such as Fowke and Gardiner, were disappointing, neither of them reaching double figures. The bowling of the Wellington men wps hardly op to expectation, and veiy frequent ohnogo* had to bo resorted to, Upham, Fitzsimmone, Diydeu, Benbow, and Holdahip all being put on. Benbow, who gob three wirketn for 9 ruDS, was the most successful. Upham took three wickelsfor49 runs, Fiiz^immons two for 32, and Holdship two for 17. The fielding of Wellington was very go"d, and scarcely a chance was miostd. Play was interfered with during the afternoon by several dhowers of rain, j'ist after tl.e Wellington men commenced to but, which was rather uufurtnnate for Auckland, making Ihe bill very preasy and the fielding poor, At lost the rtiin came down so heavily that at 4 30 the game had to be stopped. Wellington, with extras, had 46 to their credit, with three wickets down, Cross and Fuller not out. The former was batting finely, with 29 put up when play sopped. Auckland's fielding was not good, and several chances were missed through the greasy ball and state of the ground. The following were the scores : —
