SENIOR CUP MATCH.

United C.C. v. Napieu C.C,

The senior cup match between these clnbs, which owing to the wet weather had been postponed from week to week for the lfißt month, was commenced at Farndon Park on Saturday last. The wicket wbb Bligbtly dead owing to the previous day's rain, but otherwise was in good ordei and played well. Lusk captained the United and J. Martin the Napier eleven. The United skipper won the tojß, and elected to bat. The batsmen seemed to te "off color 1 ' at first, and no stand of any consequence wea made until C. W, Cato joined Hughes (eight wickets having then fallen for 49 runs) bnt these two were not separated until the score had been increased to 81. After Cato had been dismissed Bradley went in, and when a run or two more had been scored he was clean bowled by H. taartlo, bub owing to a misconception was given not out. Bradley took every advantage of his good fortune, and knocked up 15 before Mania got (me past Hughes, who retired tor a well played 28, which were obtained in a masterly sryle and just when runs were wanted. The innings closed for 101. Hughes (28), Bradley (15, net out), and Shea (10) were t!:e only double-figure scorers. Wolstenholme five for 23 and Gardiner fonr for 32 were the best of the Napier bowlers. The Napier eleven, who on going id to bat were nnder tbe disadvantage of a failing light, could do nothing at all with Marshall's bowling, and when time wus called had lost nine wickets for a total of 43 runs Wolsten holme (11) and Gardiner (11) were the only players to get into donble figures, Marshall and Lntk did all the bowling for the United, the former's average (eight wickets for 16 runt-) reading the beat. The fielding on both sides was, taken altogether, very good. Appended are tbe scores :— UNITED C.C Marshall, c Laws, b Wnjstenholmo .. 8 Lusk, b Gardiner _ 1 Ludbrook, b Gardiner .. .. „ .. i O. H.
