Sydney, Sunday.

The Tarawera, which arrived from Wellington to-day, reports that on the voyage sbe spoke the ship Turakina, bound from Liverpool to Auckland. A test of the temperature at tbe bottom of tbe Cremorne bore gave 100 degrees Fahrenheit. News bas been received here that Coolgardie's party of 16 prospeotors lost their way and had only two teaspoonfnls of water per day per man. Tbey suffered terribly from thirst, and one of the party travelled 130 miles for assistance. When a relief party arrived they found two men dead and five others on the verge of insanity. Several ot the men were en* tireiy in a nude state.
