HASTINGS WESLEYAN CHURCH.

Qalte a crowd assembled in the above church last evening, the occasion being a farewell to the Key. W. A. Sinclair, who has been laboring in the Hastings district for the past two years, and by his earnest) and eloquent preaching has made a host ot friends, while the congregation has so much increased that an enlargement) of the church building is contemplated. The Rev. G. W. J. Spence, who presided, referred in his opening address to the very able manner in which Mr Sinclair bad carried out his duties, to the cordial relations that existed between himself and Mr Sinclair, and to the regret he felt in having to say good-bye to such a sincere friend. The Uev. C. E. Beecrofb, a former pastor of the church, was also present. He gave a very interesting address, and hia words of sympathy were listened to with great attention throughout. The following ladies and gentlemen contributed to the evening's pleasure :— M{br Watson, solo ; Mr Hefghway, reading ; Miss Collinge, solo ; Mr Land, solo ; Miss Langley, solo ; Mis Jacobi, Misa Jacobi, Mr Jacobi, and Mr Carrutb, quartette ; Mrs Heighway, solo ; and Miss Banks, recitation, Mr Tennet was present from Napier, and on behalf of the Napier friends expressed the sorrow that they fnlt in having to say eood-bye to Mr Sinclair, Towardß the close of the evening Mr Goldsmith, on behalf of the Hastings friends, presented Mi Sinclair with a beau tiful album suitably incrlbed, and alfo a writing cabinet. — In ackoowleding the presentations Mr Sinclair said that) he could not sufficiently express his thanks to the friends who had been ss kind to him during bis atav in Hastings, and he thanked the officers of the church and Sunday-school and asked them to extend the same kindness to his successor, Mr Elliot, Mr Sinclair leaves for liis new ciicnttj, Tauranga, by to-day's express train, having to go to Auckland via New Plymonth.
