In an action brought by Mr tiohnlng, claiming £500 damages from the Kai tangata Coal Company for an accident sustained in the company's mine, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the defendant company, for whom judgment was entered up, At an inquest held to-day on the body of Jamea Reed, which was found in the harbor, a verdict of found drowned was returned. The deceased had no relatives here. He had at one time two brothers, one ot whom, a witness said, he believed committed suicide. An information has heen issued against the house surgeon of the hospital charging him with a breach of the Anatomy Act in permitting the removal of a body without the requisite 24 hours' notice being giren to the Inspector of Police.
