(Received April B, a p.m.) Sydney, Sunday. Cardinal Moran has sailed for Rome. Although the agents of the Canadian Pacific Company have received no confirmation of the statement that steamers have been subsidised to run between Canada &Dd Australia, Messrs Hnddart, Parker and Co, believe that the cablegram is probably correot, as negotiations oil the snbjecb have been proceeding for some little time. (Heoelved April 10. 1 a.m.l Messrs Hnddart, Parker and Co., in a letter to the Government, propose that in addition to the Canadian subsidy the colonies should contribute £20,000, the service to be a monthly one, and If the inducement should be sufficient a forknightly one ; the mails to be delivered in London in 26 (sibi days. If the proposal fa accepted the firm will initiate the service with the Warrlmoo and the Mlowera. Mr Kidd, Postmaster-General, approves the scheme.
