Saddlers v. Bootmakers.
A cricket match was played on the Recreation Ground yesterday between the employe's of Mr M'Vay and Messrs 'Wilson and Co. 'a employes, resulting in favor of the former on the irsG innings. M'Vay's, going to the wickets first, ' were net disposed of till they had put np the respectable score of 195, F. Laws laying the wood on vigorously for 89 (nob I oat) Dempsey and Watkins came next) with 25 and 21 respectively, Wright was the most successful bowler for Wilson's employe's. When the latter faced the Saddlers they were only able to respond with 80, Knapp playing a fine innings for 30 (nod ont), Young and Gebbie coming next with 18 and 11 respectively. In tbe second innings the Shoemakers made it somewhat lively for the Saddlers, pooring 88 for the loss of seven wickets, Knapp and Young again being the most tronblesome to the bowlers, scoring 38 and 20 respectively. Dempsey was the most successful bowler for the Saddlers in the first innings, capturing seven wickets at & cost of 45 runs, and Morley in the second, getting three wickets for 7 runs. As time would not parmit of the match being played out it was decided on the first) innings, resn) liner in a victory for M'Vay's employ 6i with 115 runs to spare. The utmost good feeling was manifested, and the hope was freely expressed that it would not be the last time the above teams would meet on the cricket field.
