CRICKET.

Hawke's Bay East Coast Wanderbks t. United Cricket Club, The match between the above teams was commenced at the Recreation Ground yesterday. At the conclusion of the first innings of tbe two teams the United had a lead of 48 runs. For the United Percy (31) and Jones (17) were the highest scorers, and Allen (13) was the chief scorer for tbe East Coast team. Forsythe and Wilson did most of the trundling tor the East Coast team, while Lnsk, Kees, and Peacock shared the bowling for the United. Shortly after the commencement of the second innings of the United heavy rain set in, which debarred Buy further pUy during the afternoon, much to the disappointment of the country visitors. In the interests of cricket it is a great pity that this match was not finished, hecanse it would have furnished a very good idea as to the capabilities of the various teams competing for the senior cup. The Wanderers will play the Hawke's Bay County Cricket Clnb at •Farndon Park to day (weather permitting) commencing at 10.30 a.m., and are fixed to play the Napier Cricket Clnb on the Recreation Ground to morrow at 10.30 o'clock, at which time the Napier men are requested to be present punctually, as it is extremely inconvenient to any visiting team to be kept waiting.
