THE NEW SEWER OUTLET.

SIR, — I do not know who is responsible lor the work now proceeding in Miltonroad, but if it is not too late I think public attention, should be called to the new sewer outleb in conrse of construction into the lagoon. Surely we have had enough to dp in mitigating the effect of one such fever bad without constructing another. And in this instance the result will be wore noxious still. As the lagoon is gradually reclaimed, the area of deposit will be narrowed and the filth more concentrated, until- ultimately when the whole is taken in, one portion of the new buildiug sites will become a fever bed pure and simple. But apart from the sanitary aspect of tbo matter, even to the unprofessional eye it is clear that to gain a fall into Wag-horne-slreet two-thirds of this work will have to be done over again. In fact, for the purpose of efficient drainage the level of the lower end of Milton«road must be raised a good many ft;et.— l am, &c, Napier, Match 9, 1893.

Researches among the records possessed by the Romney Town Council have unearthed a document of great interest. This is no less than; the "Charter of Pardons " gianted by King Henry VI. to those implicated in Jack Cade's rebellion, which was more serious in Kent and Sussex than it was elsewhere. Another very interesting docament among the records is the account of the accession to the Crown of Edward, Karl of March, in 1461.
