Midas got coat in his box at Caul Held, injuring hia stifle joint. Gibraltar and VVhimbrel leave Sydney on Saturday. (Received October 3, 9.20 p.m.) The betting market is stagnant. Dnnkeld worked at Cauliield this morning in bandages. He has not been backed by the stable for the Canlfield Cup, and 100 to 6 is freely offered against him. The proprietors of eleven of the principal betting shops were proceeded against to-day umler the Betting House Suppression Act. Tho summonses are made returnable on the 10th of October. The defendants have retained Mr Purvoso to conduct their defence.
