THE REPRESENTATIVE FOOTBALL TEAM.

The iirst Hawke's Day representative football team to go south of Wellington starts on its lour at 2 p.m. today. Considerable difficulty lias been experienced in getting the men selected away, and strong opposition lias been experienced in some instances, but it is hoped that this will now cease, and that a team which will fitly represent the football | strength of the province, and be capable of worthily combating the various unions it is engaged to meet, will leave by the steamer to-day. Of the original selection neither Taiaroa, Wyyern Williams, Percy, nor Uru could obtain leave, but though these players would have undoubtedly strengthened the combination, a very serviceable and fast team can be chosen from those who remain. The team is at present constituted as follows :— Backs, K. LeQuesne, Lowry, W. Wihape, James Kereka, Mitae, Drincan, Friday, and K. Williams; forwards, Itobson, Trotter, Hiroa, iNathaniel, Morrison, Swan, Jas. Ross, Saunders, Corbett, Jno. Fleming, Hawkins, and Johns. The secretary of the Union, Mr E. D. Hoben, will accompany the team as manager, and several footballers intend to join in the excursion.
