The carriages of the Midland Railway Company are now successfully lighted by electricity. A number of newspaper proprietors having combined to start a paper mill< their determination has had a depressing effect on the paper ring. Lord Dufferin, in acknowledging the presentation of the freedom of the City o* Dublin, said that the tributary native princes of India were interested in a secret movement to make English rule in India unpopular. The difficulty over the copper question has been settled satisfactorily. An English syndicate will takeover the stock held by the Frencli company, and the pro-
prietors ot the copper mines have agreei to restrict the output until the stock ii hand is disposed of.
