Sydney, Friday. Mr K. H, Levien, M.L. A . for Tamworth, a solicitor, has been suspended for twelve . - months for a breach of the Attorneys Act in allowing his managing clerk to receive' a percentage on bis profits. He has consequently resigned his seat for Tamworth 'in the Legislative Assembly. • - The second day's racing of the Sydney Turf Club, which was postponed frem i Saturday owing to the rain, took place to-
day. The principal event was the (J'kciiV Birthday Cup, one mile and three furlongs, which was won by Centaur, Bst 2lb; Clogs, 6st 121 b, second ; and Stamford, 6st 81b, third. Nineteen horses started, and after a good race Centaur won by a length. Time, 2min 27see. (Keoelvod Juno 1, 12.30 p.m.) Saturday. Nearly all the buildings in St. Albans, 60 miles north-west of Sydney, in the Hawkesbury Valley, were washed away during the recent floods, and one life was lost. . New Zealand wheat is quoted nominally at 4s 4d to 4s 7d. (Received June 2, 7 p.m.) Sunday. Two men named Selliera and Millar have been drowned by the flood in the ' Manning river at Taree. ment of Mr Finch Hatton as delegate to. the conference re the Canadian cable, Sir Henry Parkes said that after the recent dispute between the late Government and the Government of Victoria concerning the place of meeting of the conference the matter had been allowed to drop. He went on to say that so far as his Government was concerned no negotiations whatever had taken place, and unless the Imperial Government had received special information on the subject Mr Finch Hatton's appointment was premature.
