AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

Tbe Napiei- Amateur Athletic Club tried a new departure, and held their lirst sports meeting of the year at the Napier Park Company's ground, Greenmeadows, on Saturday. The day was beautifully fine, and the drive to tbe Park consequently very pleasant, but notwithstanding this the attendance was not as good as usual, though a great many ladies patronised the ground. A much larger gathering would have been brought together on the Recreation Ground. The heavy track precluded very fast time being recorded, out some of the events were nevertheless interesting. The Champion Mile was the principal item on the programme, ' but only four competitors faced the starter, and the contest was between Ellis and Hutchins," the latter of whom was favorite, but had to finish a close second to his younger rival. S. E. Kennedy again won the muchcoveted Ladies' Bracelet. This is the tbird time he bas finished first in what is looked upon aa the most at\r tractive race at tho club's meetings, and it is also the tbird time Miss Roy has nominated a successful candidate. Afternoon tea was served in the grand stand luncheon room by Mi - H. Hitchings, and was much appreciated. Messrs C. D. Kennedy and Bennett gave perfect satisfaction as judges; Mr Gibbons made an efficient starter; and Messrs Collins, Cooper, and Colledge "kept the clock.'' The secretary, Mr Peacock, was very active, and Mr R. Smith also assisted. The following are the results : — 120 Yards Hurdles.— T. Richardson, 1 ; J. A. Miller, 2; J. I. Cato, 3.
