Mr O'Brien addressed a large crowd in this city and corroborated the statement made by Mr Wilfred Blunt that lie (O'Brien) never expected to emerge alive from prison. He said he expected to be re-imprisoned shortly, and declared that the Crimes Act had failed to suppress a single branoh of the Land League. The Daily Chronicle states that the reluctance of the Pipe to intervene in Irish 1 affairs arises from a letter written by Cardinal Manning stating that both the disaffected English and Irish were Catholics.
