At a public meeting last night in connection with tha Industrial Association it was_ resolved to agitate for the Parliament session continuing with a short Christmas recess until the question of encouraging local industries was dealt with. Resolutions were also carried calling on the Government to help the mining industry, and repudiating the statement that the Industrial Association was the tool of a ■ clique wishing to restore Sir Julius Yogel to power. Some feeling was shown in discussing the last proposition. The Bluff Harbor Board iiave practically resolved to discharge nearly all tho present pilots and tug staff, having passed resolutions to invite applications from candidates, in most cases not to be over 40 years ; tho applicants to enter on their duties on the 31st instant. The following are tho salaries proposed :— Harbor-master, i £250 and free house (no age restriction) ; second pilot, £150 and free house; aasistantpilot, £100 and to live aboard the tug.
