(Received May 14, 11,20 a.m.) London, May 13. The ship Darling Downs, bound from Melbourne to London, came into collision with another vessel below the Nore, and sank soon after. The crew of the Darling Downs were saved. (Received May 14, 5.30 p.m.) Consols are unchanged at 103 i. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock has advanced by £ to 99J. New Zealand mutton, prime Quality, is realising 4d to 4Jd per lb. (Roooivea May 14, 11 p. m> ) Mr Parnell, who recently arrived in London from Ireland, is still seriously indisposed and has gone to Bournemouth. In the House of Commons to-day Sir Henry Holland, in reply to a question, stated that it is proposed that the government of New Guinea be conducted by an official appointed by the Imperial Government, but amenable to the Queenslaud Ministry and guided in his administration by the Government of that colony. A despatch has been received by the Colonial Office from Sir C. Miichell, Government of Fiji, dated the 13th of April, confirming the news of religious persecutions at Tonga, and stating that the King had promised to make the chiefs respect the constitution of the country and religious freedom. \. (Received May 1C,.1.15 a,m.) T May 15. Tbe^People's Palace at the East End of London was opened by the Queen yesterday. Her Majesty, accompanied by the Prince of Wales and other members of the Royal Family, left Paddington Station to proceed to the Mile End-road, where the palace is situated, via Holborn, where she was received by the Lord Mayor and Corporation of London, who escorted her to Aldgate. The royal party occupied 5 open carriages. The route was lined by 100,000 Volunteers and 50,000 regular troops. The streets were gaily decorated. Tremendous enthusiasm was manifested by the large crowds of people who had assembled. The weather throughout was splendid, and the. whole of the proceedings were a great success. On the Queen's return she was entertained at the Mansion House by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.-
