HAWKE'S BAY J.C. BOXING DAY MEETING.
[Tips dy " Fetlock".] The Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's Boxing Day meeting will be held at Hastings on Monday, ■ and will no doubt succeed in attracting a largo concourse of spectators, as the fields for all the events promise to be unusually large; and as the horses have been well wrought together there should'lje some very good racing wifc--nessed. Notwithstanding the depression in business, as shown by the number of gentlemen who are seeking to be whitewashed, and have their pecuniary sins made " whiter than snow," I expect that the machine which cannot lie will be extensively patronised, and those speculators who are favored by fortune; to the extent ot having a credit balance at the end of the day, will be jubilant, while the unfortunates who were just going to back the winners, but were put off by a friend, and so lost their money, will be filled with regret instead of cash. There are seven races set down for decision, and I 'append below my opinion as to the probable results of the various contests : —
