The statement that the second iastalmenl of three millions of the authorised Victorian Government loan of eight millions, will be placed on the London market in January is confirmed. The Chamber or Manufactures has approved the proposed exhibition. IRecoived December 1, 10.30 p.m.) It is intended to invite their lioyal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales to inaugurate the ceremonies iv connection • with the Centennial Exhibition in 13,88. The preliminary arrangements for the Exhibition are being rapidly pushed forward. The area allotted will largely exceed that ot the Exhibition of 1880. Commissioners will be appointed in Melbourne and London. (Kecoired Dccombcr 8, 1.15 n.m.) The Government have received a telegram from the Agents-General collectively stating that the basis of the Imperial Institute has been remodeled, it will bo called the Imperial Institute of the United Kingdom and the British Colonies and India. Half of the space will lie reserved _for the colonies and India, each ' controlling its own section. The committee contemplate holding periodical exhibitions of specific industries and products.
