Australians v. Auckland. [by telegraph.] Auckland, Monday. The match between the "Australian eleven and an Auckland twenty-two was commenced at the Domain to-day. About 2000 persons were present. Tlie weather was splendid, and the wicket was in excellent condition. Garrett won the tos3 from Robinson and elected to take the wickets. Blackham was unable to play, aud so acted as umpire. The visitors therefore played with 10 men. The bowling of the local men was too good to be denied, aud tlie fielding was splendid, making the visitors careful in their batting; notwithstanding which they were all out for 104 runs. The Aucklanders then went in for their first innings, and at the close of the day's play they had scored G3 for eight wickets, Lynch (not out), 19, being the highest scorer. Lynch and Arneil made the best play. The visitors being a man short had Moresby to field as a substitute. The following are- the scores : — Australians- -Ist innings!
