THE COLIN CAMPBELL DIVORCE CASE.

In the Divorce Division, oil July .2, Mr Justice Butt had before him a motion in reference to tlie ciivordo suit of Lady Colin Campbell v. Lord Colin Campbell. It will be remembered that some time back she instituted a suit against her husband, and tlie .cose was heard in camera bdfore a special jury. In the result she obtained a judicial separation, and now she alleges misconduct, against her husband, which he denies. Amongst the list of cases to ho heard before a special jury these sittings is that of Lord Colin Campbell v. Lady Colin Campbell, ■ Marl borough, Shaw, Butler, and Bird. The present application arose out of a matter which had been heard in chambers. On behalf of Lady Colin Campbell application was made to Mr Registrar Pritchard to amend the petition in- reference to the charge of. adultery founded upon a passage from -.a" letter sworn to in an affidavit which he read. Mr Pritchard granted the application. From that there was an appeal to Mr Justice Butt in chambers, and his Lordship refused leave to amend the petition, nnd now tlie matter was formally mentioned in- Court with the view to an appeal from his Lordship's decision. Mr Justice Butt said: My # decision was based on a couple of lines which wore an extract of a letter. If I had thought more I think I- should have liked to have seen the whole of the letter before giving my decision. Sir H. ■ James : I wisli the' present matter to stand over until your Lordship lias that opportunity. Justice Butt: Yes. I clearly see tho matter, and the present application had better stand. over for a fortnight, with liberty to file affidavits.
