(Recoired August 14,3.15 p.m.) London, August 13. Rain fell to-day and delayed the resumption of the Australians v. All England match. At 1 p.m. the score of All England stood at 305 with five wickets down. (Received August 14,9 p.m.) An alarming colliery explosion occurred to-day at the Woodend colliery, Lancashire. Thirty minors are entombed, andserious fears are entertained for their safety. • ■ The cricket matcli, Australians v. All England, was resumed to-day at Kennington Oval. The Home team, with 279 to' their credit for two wickets, continued their first innings, Shrewsbury and Read, the not-outs of the previous day, resuming their positions at the wickets. bury was caught when his score reached 44, and Read, who played a good game, was caught with 94 up. Briggs (caught, 43) was the only other principal scorer. = The innings closed for 434. The visitors then went in for their first innings, and • and were all put ont for 68. Being 366 behind the Home team's score the Aus-. tralians followed on for their second innings, and when play stopped for, the day had scored S runs without the loss of a wicket. : (Received August 15,10.30 a.m.) Consols remain at 101£. New Zealand securities are at last qvtotationß, namely, 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 103J; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 99; 4J per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 99 ex dlv. Sir Edward Stanhope, Secretary of State for the- Colonies, has issued an. official notification that he will receive at. the Colonial Office on each Tuesday during the remainder of the month any colonial visitors who may desire an interview with him. It is announced that a meeting of the Cabinet has been held, at which Sir, Michael Hicks-Beach, Chief Secretary for Ireland, reported that the state of that country was re-assuvihg. "The Cabinet decided that Parliament be prorogued as' soon as supply has been obtained. A. committee of the Cabinet was appointed to consider the position of affairs Jin Ireland. . • ' '" Sir Charles Tupper, High Commissioner for Canada, is proceeding to Ottawa to confer with the Dominion Government concerning tho proposed permanent Colonial Exhibition in London and the part Canada should take in connection therewith. ' • The cricket match, Australians v. All England was concluded to-elay a'tKenuiug- • ton Oval. The weather was lino, but the attendance was only moderate,,' The' wicket was much cut up; The'visitors resumed thoir second innings, which closed for a total of 145. The principal scorers were GiA'en (caught and bowled) 47, Palmer (stumped) 35, aud Trumble (caught) 18. The Home team thus won the matcli with one innings and 220 runsto spare. ' .
