TARADALE RIFLE CLUB.

The distribution of prizes won at the recent rifle match under the auspices of the above club took place in the Oddfellows' Hall, Taradale, last evening. There was not a large attendance, owing doubtless to the inclemency of the weather, but amongst those present were many ladies. The prizes were laid out on the stage, and made a pretty display. Mr P. Dolbel, president of the club, was in the chair, and in presenting the various winners with the trophies of their skill with the rifle he made some appropriate remarks ,in each case. Captain Blythe, Lieutenant Duncan, the Rev. C. L. Tuke, and Messrs Cartwright Brown and G. Eymer were on the platform. Mr S. F. Anderson, honorary secretary, read the following list of prizes : — FIRST MATCH. First prize, president's trophy (a gold medal), won by Mr Drummond, 84 points ; second, butter cooler, presented by Mr M'Gartney, won by Mr G. Pram, 81 points ; third, £1 Is, presented by Mr T. Peddie. won by Mr J, Eoss, 78 points ; fourth, 15s, presented by the T.R.0., won by Mr W. Harphatn, 77 points. SECOND MATCH. First prize, biscuit casket, presented by Captain Blythe, won by Mr G. Pram, 42 points ; second, water jug, presented by MrH. Williams, won by Mr Guppy, 41 points ; third, groceries to the value of £1, presented by Mr J. S. Blair, won by Mr S. F. Anderson, 41 pointß ; fourth, 10s, presented by the T.R.C., won by Mr Drummond. THIRD MATCH. Handicap, any Rifle. — First, prize, silver cup, presented by Mr Cartwright Brown, won by Mr Drummond, 48 points ; second, £1, presented by the T. 8.0., won by Mr G. Pram, 48 points ; third, Ids, presented by the T.R.C., won by Mr S. F. Anderson, 41 points. FOURTH MATCH. First prize, marble clock, presented by Mr H. S. Tiffen, won by Mr J. Frame, 63 points ; second, a prize presented by the committee of the T.R.C., won by Mr S. F. Anderson, 58 points ; third, silver Maltese cross, presented by Mr W. Heslop, vice-president, won by Mr G. Pram, 55 points ; fourth, £1, presented by Mr R. Neagle, won by Mr J. Drummond, 54 points ; fifth, an album, presented by Mr J. W. Craig, won by Mr J. Boss, 49 points ; sixth, case of apples, presented by Mr H. J. Gilberd, won by Mr B. Shirley, 47 points. AGGBBGATES. For the highest aggregate scorer in the first, second, and fourth matches, a silver medal, presented by Messrs F. W. Collins and Co., with £1 added for engraving by the T.R.0., was won by Mr J. Drummond. For the highest aggregate scorer in the above matches resident in the district, a gold medal, presented by Mr M. Ryan, was won by Mr J. Drummond. During the evening speeches were delivered by Captain Blythe, Lieutenant Duncan, the Rev. C. L. Tuke, and Messrs Dolbel, Brown, and Drummond. The usual votes of thanks brought the proceedings to a close.
