[by telegraph.! Timaru, Friday. . The Geraldine races were continued today. The weather was beautiful, and the attendance was far larger and the sport much better than on the first day. Vanguard succeeded, as his friends were confident he would, in oarrying off the Cup. The following are the results:— handicap hurdle race. Of 100 soys ; 2 miles. Mr J. Pil brow's br g Barbary, aged, lOst 91b (Lyford) 1 ,Mr Sheehan's Lad, aged, 12st (Owner) 2 Mr t). O'Brien's g g Gaiters, 6 years, lOst 81b (Owner) 3 —Faust and Marion also ran. Barbary won easily by a couple of lengths. Mr Sheehan's Lad ran gamely, but the weight was rather too much, and told at the critical time. Dividend, £1 16s. ' CUP handicap, Of 150 soys ; 2 miles. Hop. W. Robinson's Vanguard, Bsfc 121 b (Derrett) 1 Mr. Bate's eh g The Poet, aged, 7st 21b (Sharp) 2 Mr D. O'Brien's br h Tasman, 6yrs, 9st 9lb (Keen) 3 — Mr Butler's Tim Whiffler also ran. Vanguard again had an easy victory, finishing with a good deal in hand. Time, 3min 48seo. Dividend, £1 14s. COUNTY PLATE, Of 60 soys; l£mile. Messrs M. and 0. Hobbs' Temuha ... 1 Mr J. Claney's All Fours 2 Messrs M. and C. Hobbs' Triumph ... 3 Temuka won easily by two or three lengths. Dividend £2 2s. FLYING HANDICAP, Of 60 soys ; 6 furlongs. Mr P. Butler's Tim Whiffler 1 Mr G. Bate's Minerva 2 Mr D. O'Brien's Robina 3 The trio kept together for a third of the distance, when Tim Whiffler came away and won by over a length. Time, lmin 19sec. Dividend, £3 3s. CONSOLATION, Of 30 soys ; 1 mile. Robina, Bst ... . . 1 The Poet, 7st 91b 2 . The best race of the day, Robina winning by a short head. Time, lmin 54sec. Dividend, £2 12s.
