HAWKE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB'S SPRING MEETING, <■ Teainino Notes by "Fetlock." > Most of the ■■ horses engaged in: our Spring meeting have arrived and taken
up their quarters in and around Hastings, and in consequence a number of spectators have appeared on the course during the last few mornings to witness the various trainers patting their charges through their facings. The training ground is in first-class order, in fact as good as could be desired. On Monday morning "Stan kee, Emir Bey, Misdeal, Gabble, Leonora, Leonato, Forerunner, Aimee, Sfceeldust, The Arrow, Pastime. Tigredia, Blackbird, Songstress filly, Wild Dayrell, Administrator, Flying Scud, Miss Dargon, Pearl, and Marksman exercised. Very few, however, opened the eyes of those present. Yesterday morning Edwards was the first on the ground and opened the ball by sending Leonora and Tigredia three miles at a good pace, both going remarkably well, and looking in good health. Emir Bey and Yankee went a mile and a half strong. The Bey and his stable companion have never appeared better. Lorelei and a hack did a fast mile. Leonato and Forerunner did a little over a mile at a steady pace. Gabble cantered. Administrator and Misdeal did three miles with the sweaters on. Pearl, Marksman, and Bayard (who arrived the previous night) cantered three miles. The filly is looking in tip-top condition, and the same remark will apply to Leonato and Forerunner, all stable companions. Bayard is certainly on the big Bide. The Arrow worked slow. Misß Dargon and Flying Scud only walked. Parnell, Minuet, Amice, Steeldust, and Pastime did good work. Armourer and Laurel were expacted to arrive by the train last evening.
