Mr Amos Burr, one of the candidates for Manawatu, laid an information today against Mr Donald Fraser and the members of Mr Eraser's committee for alleged bribery. Nelson, Monday. John M'Leary, machinist at the JSvenifcg Mail office, has been arrested on a charge of arson. On Friday night an old unoccupied house near the railway station was discovered to be on fire, but the flames were extinguished by a few buckets of water. Last night a light was seen in the house, and a neighbor sent for a constable, and then effeoted an entrance , by means of a window. It was then ] found that a hole had been cut in the sorim, and a candle placed there, stir, rounded by hay, over which kerosene had been poured; and a bottle containing about a'pint of kerosene had been left close to the candle. The hay Was just ignited when discovered. M'Leary was charged with arson at the B.M. Oourt to-day, and was remanded; bail being refused. CfiRisTOHUBOH, Monday.
