ENGLAND.

(Received February 15, 3.53 p.m.) London, February 14. The first portion of the Tongariro's shipment of frozen nintton was placed on the market to-day and realised fivepence per pound. The lowness of the price is attributed to the smallness of the carcaßes. (Received February 15, 9.50 p.m.) The catalogue at yesterday's wool sale comprised 8900 bales. A fair demand \ was experienced for the lots submitted. At the wool sale to-day 12,000 bales were offered, making a total, of 39,100 bales catalogued since the opening of the series. Prices generally were £d lower than at the close of last auctions. The withdrawals amount to 4000 bales. The Homeward mails via Suez and . Brindisi, dated Melbourne, Jauuary 8, were delivered here to-day.
