The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion is £12,200,000, being a decrease of £400,000 during the week. The proportion of the reserve to the liabilities has fallen to 40 per cent. The Bank rate of discount has been advanced to 3J per cent., and the market rate to 3 per cent. Consols have declined to 101. New Zealand securities remain as follows :— 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 105; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 103 i ; 4} per cent 1879-1904 loan, 99J ex div.; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 100. • Adelaide wheat ex store remains at 445, and New Zealand ditto at 36s to 425; Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 31s. Australian tallow, fair average quality beef, 39 ; mutton, 425. Scotch pig iron, No. 1 f.o.b. in the Clyde, 46s per ton ; galvanized iron, Gospel oak, corrigated, packed in cases, f.o.b. in London, has advanced to £18 10s.
