WASTE LANDS BOARD.

Friday, November 24. The Board met at 11 a.m. Present -The Chief Commissioner (in thfi chair), Captain Russell, Messrs .1. Buchanan, M.11.8., F. Sutton, M.H.R., and R. Harding. CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read : — From the Under-Secretary for Crown Lands, notifying the gazetting of Mr Sutton's appointment a3 a member of tho Board. From the same, drawing attention to the Gazette notice appointing trustees for the maintenance of the cemetery at Norsa • wood, and notifying the re-appoiiitment of Mr Buchanan as a member of the Board. From the same, stating that section 2G, block 14, Pohui district, would be made a timber reserve, as recommended by the Board. From the Chief Surveyor, forwarding classification and valuation of lands in the Pohui and Patoka districts.— lt was decided that certain sections in blocks 13, 14, and 15, Pohui district, and in blocks 2 and 6 Patoka district, be offered at auction at the pric3B named in the Chief Surveyor's valuations. From the Chairman of the Kuraeroa Highway Board, showing the lines *i roads ou which it was proposed to expend the £98 13 Ta grant-in-aid on account of land sold on deferred payments. — The Board sanctioned the expeuditure in the manner proposed. From Thomas Willan, applying to lease a portion of land, originally river bed, between the public road and the Meanee river. — The Board deolined o entertain the application. From Alaf Johansen, requesting an extension of time to make improvements on land taken up by him on deferred payments. — The Board declined to grant the request pending the Ranger's report after inspection. From H. M'Kenzie and Co. applying ■or about 14,000 feefcof totara for building 3ridgeß at Whakaruatapu and Mangatera. —It was decided that the applicants be nformed there is no land in the locality it present under the administration of the Board. The Board then adjourned.
