Watches GOOD NEWS FOR THE COLONIES ! ' THATCHES! -TTTATOHES! STEWART, DAWSON & CO., THE EMINENT WATCH MANUFACTURERS, Liverpool, England, Have now the pleasvire to announce that they have opened a Colonial Branch Establishment, 79, Goulburn-<"treet, between Georgestreet and Pitt-street, Sydney, near Railway Station and Haymarket SD. and CO. have selected the above • premises as being most central and conveniont for those old and new customers who can pay them a porsonal visit, and where all who forward their orders by post may rely upon the same being executed forthwith, thus obviating the delay contingent upon writing to STEWART, DAWSON, and CO.'S Manu Factory in England. When S. D. and Co. first conceived the idea of putting before the colonial public, through the medium of the Press, the finest and best-finished watches in the world, at English wholesale prices, they had no conception that their trade with the colonies would so rapidly assume such great proportions. Such, however, has been the spontaneous and hearty response to S. D. and Co.'s announcements, from all parts of Australia, Tasmania, and New Zealand, that they have felt compelled, in the interests of their customers, to bring themselves into closer communication by opening an Australian branch, and thus at once save to the publio the enormous profits charged by retail shopkeepers, and establish a true system of Free Trade in Watches. STEWART, DAWSON, and CO. do not expect or solicit flattery or any gratitude for their exertions in having placed within the reach of the colonists facilities for purchasing thflir watches at exactly the same prices as they are now daily sold at all over Great Britain. Still S. D. and Co. consider that on account of the very high prices prevailing in all the colonies it must be a great boon to all requiring a First-class Watch to know that they are now able to purchase at the Sydney Branch English Watches of the very best description for the same Low Prices as if they resided in England, and purchased the watches there. S. D. and Co. therefore beg respectfully to request the readers of this paper to compare the colonial and English shop prices as under with those charged by the makers STEWART, DAWSON, AND CO. ACombination of Comfort, Elegance, and Durability. S- D. and Co., would direct particular attention to their English Lever Watches, with Flat Crystal Unbreakable Glass, which are now aving a very large sale, being greatly favored by those who requireja watch to withstand hard wear of all kinds, and are by many preferred to the Hunters. Hitherto the objection to an open-face watch has been the liability of the glass to be easily broken, but this is entirely obviated by the introduction of S. D. and Co.'s Patent Crystal Front, which is absolutely unbreakable in wear. These watches thus combine the strength and security of the Hunter, with the great convenience of the open face, whilst the crytal glass gives a very handaome and artistic finish to the watch. The price is £3 6s. All are delighted who try them. CHRONOGRAPH STOP WATCHES. As representing this class of watch, they are the finest quality that can be made. Each watch is jewelled in six pair, real expansion chronometer balance, £ plate centre-seconds, timed in positions, heat and cold, and guaranteed to keep the same time equally well in cold or hot climates. Those requiring a watch of this class, will be thoroughly satisfied, both with their handsome appearance and their superior quality. A guarantee for five yoars is given with each, and the reduced price they are now offered at will make them acceptable to all, being about half the ordinary retail prices that are often . charged for an inferior watch. KEYLESS WATCHES. This is poßsibly the greatest improvement , and convenience that has ever been added to English watches. The small knob in the bow . rolls round between the fingers, and wind or sots the hands with the greatest simplicity, no key being required. The. cases are made Air-tight, Dust-tight, and Damp-tight, and never require to be opened, which excludes all chances of dust getting inside. DEFIANCE WATCHES. These watches are specially recommended as suitable for personal wear, or as presents, where a cheaper Watch is required than the English Lever. A lthough specially offered at the above very low prices, they are a moßt superior article, and very handsome in dosign. They must not bo classed with ordinary low priced Foreign Watches, being all finished, examined and carefully regulated by S. D. and Co. Who have, therefore, every confidence m recommending them to their customers where a watch is required for the above purpose. CONDITIONS. Each Watch sent on a week's free trial, and the full amount will be returned to anyone dissatisfied.
