EIST COAST LA.ND COMPANY.

Sir, — 1 notice by your paper that Mr Dargaville has been to Oamaru to quieten the apprehensions of shareholders in the above company. Could not Mr Dargaville do the same in relation to affording Napier shareholders the same kind of satisfaction. Or, better still, could not the directors issue a report, stating what business had been done up to the present in the way of investing the money of the company ? If such a report were issued, especially if it set forth how many officials received salaries, and the amount of such salaries, it would make shareholders part with the amount of the calls with a better grace. Possibly all things are quite en regie, but an impression is gaining ground that the company exists chiefly for the purpose of providing an annuity for persons who are at the head of affairs. — I am, &c., Also a Shareholder.
