Tlie s:s: Southern Cross, Captain -HeiuSdter, arrived bri' Saturday afternoon at 2.50 from Southern ports. She was the bearer of otir inward San' Franciseo mail and a good number of passengers, also a large- general cargo, consisting chiefly of colonial produce. She left Lyttelton on Thursday last at 3.30 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at noon on Friday •,. discharged and : took in a good quantity of cargo 5 • cleared Wellington heads again for. this port ; at v 2.30 p.m., and arrived here as above. Experienced strong N.E; wind and heavy head sea all !the way to tlie "Kidnappers. The Cross will discharge her inward cargo this morfiing, and embark a load of cattle and sheep for Auckland, for which port she leaves, via Poverty Bay, at 4. o! clock this afternoon. The lighter Maid of the Mill took in a load of wool, from the New Zealand Shipping Company's store for the barque Waimea on Saturday, and will, take it off early this morning. Tlie Wairoa steamers Clyde and Result arrived from Wairoa on Saturday night, the former at 6 and the latter at 7 o'clock.

Thes.s. Sir Donald arrived fromWaimarania yesterday at 10 a.m.

Tliis week we shall have four of the Union Company's steamers here, two going Northwards, the Penguin on Tuesday and the Rotorua on Wednesday, the latter, however, going direct to Auckland ; and two going South, the Wanaka on Thursday morning and tho Rotbriiaharia on the evening of tho same day. ,
