THE THREE MILLION LOAN.
It jis anh.b'tincbd from Wellington that the polbriiaiK Treasurer will propose, during th 4 ensuing session of Parliament, to borrow .three milliona more money. .We anticipated that the proposal will meet with litjJe opposition on either side of the House.' We are so far committed to the Public Works policy that it muafc at all costs be carried out to its legitimate conclusion, and without further borrowing this .would be impossible. Until the great tirunk lines are completed the railways Vill never be worked to great advantage, and it would be folly to attempt to pay for them from revenue. The circulation of j so large a sum of money will also be of) great benefit to the trade of the colony, and though this would not in itself justify borrowing, it is a collateral advantage which should not be lost sight of. With proper economy the money may be most profitably expended, and if we can show this' t'o'th'e' London capitalists — and no man can do so better than our AgentGeneral— there is little fear of the loan being a failure,.
