'The Union s.s. Wanaka, Captain M'Gfillivray arrived in the bay yesterday morning ab 11 a.m., and was immediately tendered by the Bella for passengers and the Sir Donald for cargo. The following is her report to Napier:— She left Dnnedin at 1.30 p.m. on the 25th, arriving at Akaroa at 7 a.m. on the 26th ; left again at 8.45, arriving at Lyt'-.te.lton at 12.50 • sailed again at 7 p m., avriv.xng' at Wellington on the 27th ; sailed for Napi.w at 2 p.m. on the 28th, arriving as above. .Experienced fine weather and smooth sea all th> 9 way up the coast. The Wanaka left again last evening for the North. The s.s. Southern Cross, Capt. . Helander, had not arrived in the bay from Wellington when our report left the Spit last evening. ■■ We understand that a steamer left Liverpool last week for New Zealand, named the Penguin, which has been bought, by the Union Company to replace the wrecked steamer Taupo. The Union s.s. Lady Bird, Captain Malcolm, is due ,here this morning from Northern ports, and leaves same day for the South at 11 a.m. The s.s. Fairy, Captain Campbell, arrived from the coast yesterday afternoon. She was puccessful in landing her cargo. The s.s.. Sir Donald, Captain Watson, will discharge tOday ex Wanaka from tho South.
