The first match fired to-day was tho carbine match between the North and South Islands, tho first highest aggregate scorers in tho championship, belonging to the respective Isltuids, to be the representatives. The North Island won by 7 points, Gordon, tho winner of the championship, also taking the cup. The scores wore as follows : — North Island : Gordon, 24 at 200 yards, 25 at 400 yards, and 25 at 500 yards ; total, 74. Bowden, '>3, 27, 22—72 ; Armstrong, 25, 23, 22 — 7V; Coleman2l, 24, 22—67; Cropp, IS, 20 20—58. Grand total, 341. South Island : Judge, 24, 23, 24—71 ; Houston, 21, 24, 24-69; Hood, 22, 22,23-67;

Jack, 20, 21, 23—64 ; Mapp, 20, 20, 23— 63. Grand total, 334. In the rifle match between the two Islands, the South Jsland was victorious by 11 points, Smith, the highest man on the winning 1 side; taking the cup.
