The first match fired to-day was tho carbine match between the North and South Islands, tho first highest aggregate scorers in tho championship, belonging to the respective Isltuids, to be the representatives. The North Island won by 7 points, Gordon, tho winner of the championship, also taking the cup. The scores wore as follows : — North Island : Gordon, 24 at 200 yards, 25 at 400 yards, and 25 at 500 yards ; total, 74. Bowden, '>3, 27, 22—72 ; Armstrong, 25, 23, 22 — 7V; Coleman2l, 24, 22—67; Cropp, IS, 20 20—58. Grand total, 341. South Island : Judge, 24, 23, 24—71 ; Houston, 21, 24, 24-69; Hood, 22, 22,23-67;
Jack, 20, 21, 23—64 ; Mapp, 20, 20, 23— 63. Grand total, 334. In the rifle match between the two Islands, the South Jsland was victorious by 11 points, Smith, the highest man on the winning 1 side; taking the cup. The scores were — SojitJi Island : Smithy 23 at 200 yards, 26 at pOO yards, and 2i at 000 yards. North Island: Reid, 22, 26, 22 — 70; Oke|y, 24; 25, 21 — 70; Weir, 23, 24, 21 -68; W. Ballinger, 23, 25", 20—68 J. In the twelfth match, civilians carbine, the prizes were altered to first £6, second £5, third £4. Prouso, senr., 47, first; Howell, 43, second; Prouse, junr., 41, third. The others were Bould, 34 ; Hall, 36; Stevens, 36; t Blundell, 34; Kent, 34. Match 17, Licensed Victuallers* has been proceeding all the afternoon, but is not completed. Tho first prize is a cup, value 10 guineas, presented by the brewers of Nelson; second, £6; third, £5; fourth, £4 ; two, £3 each ; two of £2 ; twelve of £1. There are some twenty or thirty yet to fire, but the leading men so far arc Hutchinson, 71; Prouse, junr., 70.
