HAWKE'S BAY RIFLE ASSOCIATION.
The third match of the Association was fired yesterday morning, at the usual range, there being nineteen competitors. The conditions were 200, 300, and 400 yards, five shots at each range. As the shooting on this occasion was to decide who was to be the winner of the handsome clock presented by Mr Lionel Harris to the highest aggregate scorer during the meeting, a very large amount of interest was taken in the competition. The result, as will bo seen by the scores, was that Mr M'lntosh, who was only one point behind, the highest scorer (Burr) at the comj mencement of yesterday's firing, ia the fortunate winner of the clock, with an aggregate score, for the three competitions, of 157 points, besides being the winner of several money prizes. Mr James Roas being the second highest scorer, with 155 points, takes the table lamp presented by Mr H. Williams ; Mr Red ward, with 154, third extra prize, a leather writing desk, the gift of Messrs Colledge and Craig ; Mr Burr, with 154, the fourth prize, cartridge carrier, presented by Mr John M'Vay ; and Mr Joseph Chicken, the last of the extra prizes, a pipe, presented by Mr D. Levi. The first prize. in yesterday's match was won by Mr L. Red ward, with 50 points, including a splendid score of 19 out of a possible 20 at the 400 yards range. It consisted of a handsome silver flask, presented by Mr W. A. Shanly, and £2. Mr James Ross also scored 50 points, but Redward became the winner of the first prize by having made ths beat score at the.
