Each branoh is required to send in immodiatoly a return of the arrears of work as far as possible The offices of Registrar, Examiner, and Deputy-Registrar of Stamps will bo I amalgamated. The returns of th.c rovonue for the first half of the financial year aro most satisfactory, although not complete The Customs revenue for the quarter ending December amounts to £316,690, making a total. for the half-year of £682,084.' The Customs revenue shows an incroaso of £10,000 on the last quarter comparod' with the corresponding quarter of. last year, and this although little or no duty was collected on tea and sugar during tho quarter. In stamps the half-year shows an oxcess of £14,367 on the ostimated revenue. This would have been increased by £7000 had not J. S.
