Taranaki v. Auckland.

[by special wire.] • Auckland, January 5. The cricket match between the Taranaki team and the Auckland United Cricket Club was continued yesterday on the Domain. The Taranaki men continued their first innings, Ruddiford making 6, Lynch 21, and L. Bayley (not out) 7- . Sarten was bowled by Lynch for a round 0, There were 9 byes and 7 legbyes, making a total of 187 against Auckland's 92. . The Auckland U.C.C. then" went in for their second innings, playing excellently. They had backed themselves on Friday evening to beat in their second innings the Taranaki team's long score, and this they did by 13 runs, Mumford, Lynch, Robinson, Yates, and Carter showing splendid cricket, to the delight of a large assemblage. Cunningham's catch from Mumford was pretty, and "brought ; down the house." They were all out 15^ minutes before the time for drawing the stumps, and as Taranaki had 108 to get to win it was out of the question, thinking they could do it in the time, snd.therefore the game was drawn in accordance with previous arrangement.
