medium of your columns, why the Board of Education, in making the appointment of a teacher to the Port School, did not confer with the School Committee, as they did in the case of the appointment to the Onga Onga school? The committee, if consulted, would have insisted on getting a male teacher. One would think that money was as plentiful as water with the board when we see them raising the salaries of their two officials by £100 per annum each. It is not, however, as the public will shortly find out to their cost. The £3 15s per head will be found quite inadequate to make a decent provision for education. II would have been better surely to have left the question of salaries to the new board to deal with. — I am, &c, Enquirer.
