HAYMAN'S CASE.
Sir, — Your contemporary, in its extreme anxiety to furnish its readers Avith a "funny" paragraph, states this evening that the " town Avent to bed last night laughing at the idea of twelve men being locked up for not coming to a decision respecting the guilt or innocence of John Hayman." No doubt, especially Avhen it is considered that it Avas nearly eloA'en o'clock beforo the final decision for locking up for the night Avas given, thore being in the Court at the time certainly no more than half-a-dozen persons, besides the Court officials and the jury. Ro much for the reliable statement of the Town of Kapier being informed of this important fact, ancl laughing in consequence ! In another part of the paragraph reference is made to His Honor's decision having suddenly coiiA-erted the jurors, Avhen, in its oavh report of the case, the Telegraph states His Honor Avas informed some hours previously that " thero Avas only one man sticking out." — I am, &0. , One avuo avas Present.
