CHRISTOHUItCH, June 3. The N.Z.S. Co. have received advices of tho arrival of tho Rangitikei at London on June 1. The Rangitikei had 70 passengers from various ports of the colony. The ball in honor of the Governor promises to be a groat success, as also the conversazione with which the art exhibition at tho Museum is to be opened. Nearly (iOO invitations have been issued for the latter. Numerous and valuable exhibits are promised for tho art exhibition. The professor and the lecturer of the

Canterbury College have recommended to 1 the Board of Governors to take steps to i establish a boy's high school, as an inter- ' mediate school between the Government schools and the college. The recom- '. mendation will be considered at the next monthly meeting of the board. WELLINGTON, June 2. Captain Fairchild reports the existence of the following dangers in Dusky Sound, not marked in the Admiralty chart : — Facile Harbor : A ledge of rocks with about 9ft of water on it, in the centre of the entrance to the Cove on the northwest side of Facile Harbor. Dusky Cove : A sunken rock on the eastern side, distance from Porpoise Point about onethird of a mile, west by north, with about Gft of water on it at low water.
